AssistHers History

In 1996, AssistHers began as a volunteer organization to provide non-medical, in-home support and care to lesbians with illnesses such as cancer, fibromyalgia, HIV/AIDS, and multiple sclerosis.

20 years later, in 2016, AssistHers became a program of the Montrose Center, which developed a diverse and inclusive non-medical volunteer program to assist LGBTQ + individuals. As a program of the Montrose Center, AssistHers remains committed to its mission to help and empower LGBTQ+ women and non-binary individuals living with chronic illnesses or disabilities.
