Community Unites For Second Annual Poppy’s Run For Life

On Sunday, March 17, our vibrant community came together for Poppy’s Run for Life, the second annual 5K running event for suicide prevention and awareness, led by Founder and Race Director Caryn Honig. This event serves as a beacon of hope, honoring those we’ve lost to suicide while fostering awareness and raising crucial funds for mental health and suicide prevention resources.

The Montrose Center was honored to have been selected as one of the beneficiaries of this impactful event, alongside Alexander Jewish Family Service. We extend our sincerest gratitude to each individual who donated, ran, walked, or volunteered their time. Your unwavering support ensures that individuals and families within our LGBTQ community grappling with mental health concerns receive the care and support they deserve.

A special recognition goes out to our young professionals group, Rising Leaders, and our dedicated team captains for their leadership and enthusiasm. Their efforts were instrumental in making this event a success.

The Montrose Center’s team achieved remarkable success, with runners earning awards across several age brackets. Additionally, we’re thrilled to announce that our team was commended for its size and proudly took home 1st place for the largest volunteer team!

We are immensely grateful to Caryn for her vision and unwavering dedication to bringing our community together to address the stigma surrounding suicide. Our heartfelt appreciation extends to the entire Poppy’s Run for Life team, the dedicated volunteers, participants, and generous sponsors for their invaluable contributions to this meaningful cause. A special shoutout to Juiceland Montrose for their generous donation of delicious lemonade, adding to the spirit of the day.
