Caring for You Every Month

Throughout March, we celebrate Social Work Month and the licensed Social Workers who are on staff with us as psychotherapists and case managers. There are 640,000 Social Workers in the United States, working toward improving social functioning and social conditions for people in need of emotional, psychological, economic and/or physical support. According to the National Association of Social Workers, these professionals “help people, who are often navigating major life challenges, find hope and new options for achieving their full potential.”

Montrose Counseling Center is extremely proud of our friend Bryan Hlavinka for receiving the 2012 NASW Houston Media Award. On March 2, Bryan attended a luncheon where he was given the award for all of the support he has given this field as a cohost of KPFT FM 90.1’s Queer Voices radio program (Listen live! Monday nights at 9 p.m. or listen to the podcast available through www.kpft.org). Bryan’s recognition is a testament to all the people who make Queer Voices the community showcase it is, including Jack, Glenn, Jenifer-Rene, Summer, Daniel and the rest of the gang.
