Over 275 Guests Celebrate Community and Fellowship at This Year’s TGiving!

On Tuesday, November 26, over 275 community members gathered at the Montrose Center for the 2024 TGiving Transgender Thanksgiving Celebration. This annual tradition, started in the mid-1990s by the late transgender activist Brenda Thomas. The tradition of TGiving offers a safe and welcoming space for Houston’s transgender, nonbinary, intersex, and gender-nonconforming individuals—and their loved ones—to celebrate Thanksgiving in community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in making this event so special! This year’s celebration was co-hosted by an incredible lineup of organizations, including:  the Montrose Center, Girl STFU, Houston LGBTQ+ Political Caucus, Parents of Trans Youth, Plume Health, The Normal Anomaly Initiative, Inc., Trans & Gender Queer Houston, Trans Legal Aid Clinic of Texas, Trans Masculine Alliance Houston, Trans Men Empowerment, Transgender Education Network of Texas, Transwoman Liberation.

We are deeply grateful to our Presenting Sponsor, Plume Health, for their outstanding support of this year’s event. Your contributions made a profound impact on our guests and helped empower LGBTQ+ individuals across Houston.

A heartfelt thank-you to Legacy Events & Catering for the delicious meal. Our menu included turkey, traditional Thanksgiving sides, and delightful desserts contributed by community members.

It was a wonderful evening of community, fun, and togetherness. Thank you to Transcend Gaming of Save Our Sisters United, Inc. for providing all of the equipment in the interactive gaming room , to Houston Queer Events for donating decorations, and to H-E-B for underwriting the beautiful flowers. Volunteers groups from Chevron, Hatched Out youth program, and JPMorgan Chase & Co. ensured that our guests had everything they needed.

Each guest left with a swag bag filled with self-care items and treats, thanks to Academy Sports + Outdoors and Michael’s Cookie Jar. We also raffled off exciting door prizes, including gift cards from Cuchara Restaurant and Phoenicia Specialty Foods, and an iPad donated by Greystar Healthcare Services LLC.

The proceeds from TGiving benefit the Montrose Center’s TransWellness program, which supports transgender individuals through their transitions and provides education to local businesses on inclusive practices. To learn more about the program, please click here
