Got Insurance? – Open Enrollment is Now

Whether you call it the Affordable Care Act or Obamacare, we are Out2Enroll!

What? Not Again?

Yes, it’s that time of year. Open enrollment for the Affordable Care Act.

But I just did this last year. Do I have to do it again?

That depends. We’re not trying to be dodgy, but if you signed up last year, your coverage will continue. But the provider may have made changes to the plan in terms of deductible, out of pocket, etc., so you may want to double check to see if you want to continue that level of coverage, upgrade, downgrade, etc.

They can do that? They can change it?

Yes, and that’s why we have a Certified Application Counselor who can help you figure out what is the best plan for you. If you’ve had any major changes in your life, you also may want to check your eligibility for subsidies.

Subsidies? What are the subsidies?

When you enroll, you’ll be asked to share information about your family, your income, how many are in your household, etc. Individuals whose earnings are estimated between $11,670 and $46,680 are qualified for an income tax credit. That can substantially reduce the cost of your monthly premiums and out-of-pocket costs.

Do I need to go through a Certified Application Counselor?

No. You can create your own account at the Obamacare website and go through the steps there. Our CAC can walk you through the steps and help you compare the plans, explaining any terminology that may be confusing.

What else do I need to know?

Coverage begins as soon as Jan. 1, 2015, but the Open Enrollment period is through Feb. 15.

The Montrose Center is Out2Enroll. We are offering this service to members of our community because we know it’s not easy to navigate a government program, especially when you are not comfortable talking about your living situation with just anyone.

Please contact Fred* at 713.529.0037 x362 to make an appointment.

*Fred is super busy these days with the beginning of open enrollment, so please leave contact information so he can reach you when he comes up for air.
