Montrose Counseling Center Reaction to U.S. Supreme Court Decision on Affordable Care Act

U.S. Supreme Court RulingWith today’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Montrose Counseling Center Executive Director Ann J. Robison, PhD, expressed her relief with the decision.

“So many of our clients are without insurance, and many more are underinsured or excluded for treatment due to pre-existing conditions. The American public is  beginning to recognize the importance of mental health complementing primary physical health care. Both need to be affordable and accessible, especially to marginalized populations that are severely underserved in the current model of health care provision.”

“This move toward universal coverage is a big step toward making sure that behavioral healthcare and substance abuse treatment will be a regular part of our overall health and wellness, and we support the U.S. Supreme Court decision.”
