More than 38,000 Reasons to Thank You

Happy New Year to all of you. Whether you referred someone here for services, invested in our mission, volunteered your time on our behalf, or helped us spread the word by introducing us to new friend, we sincerely thank you.

The last twelve months saw a lot of growth for MCC. Because of the support of individuals like you, we were able to expand services in order to better serve Houston’s GLBT communities and reach more than 38,000 individuals.

In addition to our ongoing programs, which include prevention to treatment, youth to seniors, crisis intervention to creating an affirming community space, we recently expanded programming to meet the ever-changing needs of our community. Here are some of the highlights:

  • GLBT homeless youth outreach through Project Remix
  • Expansion of Safe Zones counseling services to nine local high school campuses
  • Adding suicide prevention and prescription drug misuse prevention to our senior services
  • Free wellness classes in the GLBT Cultural Center (yoga, meditation, computer lab, managing anxiety, book club, etc.)
  • Co-hosting of Anti-Bullying/Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) workshop
  • Serving the mind and body of individuals through EMBody, a collaboration with Legacy Community Health Services

To learn about MCC’s Rainbow of Services, please contact Community Projects Specialist Meleah Jones, who will be happy to meet with you for a Behind-the-Scenes Tour, at 713.800.0872 or by email.
