The History Behind the Dance
Kindred Spirits was more than just a nightclub; it was a vital community hub for Houston’s LGBTQ+ scene, especially during the AIDS crisis. Though it closed in 1989, its legacy lives on through the Kindred Spirits Dance, revived in 2002 to support local LGBTQ+ nonprofits. Join us at this special event to relive cherished memories and create new ones together!
Benefiting Local LGBTQ+ Women Services
The Kindred Spirits Dance benefits the Montrose Center’s LGBTQ+ women’s programs, including mental and behavioral health services, 24-hour crisis intervention, in-home support for LGBTQ+ women experiencing disabilities or illness, and LGBTQ+ senior services. Above these needs, your donation supports other vital services of the Montrose Center.
