LGBTQIA+ Youth Prom was a Galactic Success!

On Saturday, June 1, the Montrose Center held its annual LGBTQIA+ Youth Prom, a cherished rite of passage for our community’s youth. More than 150 youth, ages 16-20, joined us for an unforgettable evening. This year’s theme, selected by the youth, was Outer Space, and The Ballroom at Tanglewood was transformed into a celestial wonderland, complete with stars, moons, and intergalactic decorations. The event raised approximately $14,000 for the Prom and for Hatch Youth services!

We couldn’t have asked for better entertainment! A huge thank you to Chloe Knox, Miss Gay Texas America and former Hatch Youth participant, for hosting the event, and to DJ GNDRBNDR for keeping the dance floor alive with impeccable music choices. Congratulations to the rock duo, BlondiLocks, Hatch Youth participants, on a fabulous first performance.

In addition to the youth, we extend a massive shoutout to our amazing volunteers. Over 30 dedicated individuals from Chevron, NASA, members of the Rising Leaders of the Montrose Center, and Hatch Youth peer support group facilitators lent their time and effort to make the event a resounding success. Special thanks to local stylists Cady from Prism Salon and local celebrities Cyn City, Adriana LaRue, and Olivia Delye for lending their talents to ensure our youth looked their best with stunning hair and makeup. Thank you to Justin Bustamante of Transcend Gaming for providing all the equipment and staffing for the Interstellar Arcade Room.

And of course, we are deeply grateful to all our generous sponsors, including The Ballroom at Tanglewood for providing a luxurious new venue, managing the exceptional decor, and offering delicious food for the event!
