On Tuesday, April 2, the Montrose Center was buzzing with energy as over 200 community members gathered to show support for their trans, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming friends at the Trans Day of Visibility Rally. The event was a vibrant celebration of love, acceptance, and community spirit.
Chief Executive Officer Avery Belyeu took the stage as the emcee, setting the tone for an evening filled with inspiring speeches from Joelle Bayaa-Uzuri of The Normal Anomaly, Inc., Charlie Ritchie of Hatch Youth, and Daron Yanes Perez of Trans Men Empowerment. Their words resonated deeply with the crowd, reminding us of the importance of visibility and advocacy for the trans community.
Throughout the evening, various trans-focused LGBTQ community partners set up tables to inform attendees about their organizations and the services they provide. It was heartwarming to see the community rally together to support one another and learn more about the resources available to them.
Adding to the good vibes was the music of DJ Fanci, whose beats kept everyone grooving and dancing throughout the night. And to beat the Texas heat, Kona Ice was on hand to provide refreshing treats and keep the crowd cool and hydrated in the great outdoor weather.
None of this would have been possible without the dedication and hard work of our volunteers and of all those involved in making this event a joyful celebration and an uplifting experience for the community.
As the sun set on our Trans Day of Visibility Rally, we were reminded once again of the power of love, acceptance, and unity within our community. Thank you to everyone who came out to show their support and make this event a special one. Here’s to many more celebrations of visibility, acceptance, and pride in the years to come!
