Growing out of a June “Town Meeting 1978-2028” Symposium at Art League Houston, this is the first bimonthly meeting for planning the 2028 50th Anniversary of Town Meeting I, the landmark gathering of 4,000 queer Houstonians at the Astro Arena which catalyzed Houston’s queer community and led to the creation of important institutions including the Montrose Counseling Center which evolved into the Montrose Center.

In celebration of LGBTQ+ History Month and National LGBTQ Center Awareness Day, we’ll begin with brief presentations on the history of The Montrose Center and its central role in the strength of our community, and move into collective sessions to envision and develop city-wide programming for Town Meeting 2028 and related programs/initiatives within Houston’s arts ecosystem.
