Chemical Dependency Treatment is one of the many services offered by Montrose Counseling Center, but sometimes it gets lost in the mix and people don’t know about it. That’s why we’ve given it a makeover. We’re now calling it the WAY OUT Recovery Program, because the closet is no place to get sober. When you decide to quit using, you need to know that there’s a safe place to go for outpatient assistance. That’s one of the many benefits of having a program dedicated to the GLBT and HIV+ communities. Here, you may talk openly about what triggers your addiction, whether it’s self-medicating your emotional pain or because you came out in gay bars and your social circle and support network are sitting on the bar stools next to you. You can talk about relationships, religious abuse, family dynamics and societal pressure — all without fear that someone is judging you. We all know what it’s like to be the odd person out, and if you’re in a support group or receiving services where you cannot talk freely about what has happened and what is happening in your life, you may not feel like you can open up and get the healing you need. To learn more about the WAY OUT Recovery Program or to schedule an intake appointment as the first step to sobriety, please call 713.529.0037.
