‘Unbreakable Threads’ Screening – Jun 11

UBlogoLocal filmmakers chronicle the uphill battles same-sex couples face in raising children in a not-so-accepting society in Unbreakable Threads.  The film can be seen in its entirety at a rare free public screening at the Montrose Center on Wednesday, June 11th at 7:00 p.m. in room 106/107. Following the screening will be a question/answer forum with individuals appearing in the documentary as well as leaders in same-sex parenting research.

The film spends quality time with several Houston families, showing the human side of the issue and breaking down myths associated with same-sex parenting.  Our very own Mayor Annise Parker shares her views and experience as half of a same-sex couple with three adopted children.  Previous educational screening have taken place at Lone Star College and University of Houston. UH’s Daily Cougar released this feature story about the campus event.
