MCC Executive Director Named Chair of NBHP

After serving the last year as Vice-Chair of the Network of Behavioral Health Providers, Montrose Counseling Center’s Executive Director, Ann J. Robison, PhD, has been voted to the Chair position. MCC was one of the founding organizations of the network, which grew out of a need for United Way mental health organizations to provide a “forum for the leadership of Metropolitan Houston’s substance abuse and mental health service providers, both public and Private, to communicate, coordinate and collaborate to support and strengthen the community’s behavioral health system.” That was six years ago. Non United Way funded groups were added in 2005.

According to Dr. Robison, the network is current working on the Pathways Project, a program to increase the number and diversity of high school and college students choosing behavioral health careers as a profession. Increasing access to psychiatric services for indigent clients also is on the radar.
