The Baxter Trust and LTR Lewis Cloverdale Foundation Invest in Volunteer Power

Montrose Counseling Center is pleased to announce a new partnership with The Baxter Trust, and a generous $25,000 grant toward the expansion of our volunteer program. We’d like to thank the trustees, especially Greg Hambrick who visited and toured MCC last year, for investing in the further development of our volunteer resources in a time when many private donors are cautious about branching out. We also thank long time supporters LTR Lewis Cloverdale Foundation for awarding a $20,000 grant to be shared between this project and MCC’s capital campaign, and extend our congratulations to the Foundation for its recent growth and development of new online resources.

In the new economy, voluntarism from corporate America is increasing while sponsorship and cash contributions are waning.  Grant makers are encouraging recipient organizations to “do more with less.” MCC has crafted a volunteer management that embraces these values while capitalizing more fully on the talent and willingness of its volunteer workers.

Since 2007, MCC has seen annual volunteer hours increase by over 200 percent. The move to 401 Branard created space and new opportunities that were not as feasible at the former location. We are now at a point where a skilled volunteer management specialist is needed to handle the recruitment, training, and retention of our valued volunteer team.

Support from The Baxter Trust and LTR Lewis Cloverdale Foundation will have a direct impact on the quality of life for 1,900 Houstonians receiving services from MCC in 2011, and be felt by an estimated 25,000 others who benefit from our education, prevention and outreach programs.
