Interfaith Trans Power Vigil
April 24, 2022 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Emerson Unitarian Universalist (UU) Church of Houston is hosting a trans power vigil at 3pm on April 24, 2022, in collaboration with members of the Unitarian Universalist Network of Houston.
INTENTIONS: Attendees will be invited to pay respects to the great cloud of transcestors, bear witness to political attacks on gender-expansive kids, and celebrate trans power. The vigil will center the voices of trans people of color who volunteer in advance or step up to the open mic. We want the event to be a nourishing time for LGBTQ+ folks of any spiritual or worldview background, including agnostics and atheists.
ACCESSIBILITY: Emerson UU is located at 1900 Bering Drive. For those who cannot make it in person, we intend to offer a live stream (details TBD). So far the vigil is being planned in spoken English. Our sanctuary is wheelchair accessible and our restrooms are gender neutral. We will offer a comfort room for attendees who want some relative privacy or quiet during the event. In the interest of community safety for all, the vigil will be a police-free zone.
All ages are welcome at this event. Please sign up at emersonhouston.org/vigil. Got questions? audrey@emersonhouston.or
