Thanks a Million!

In loving memory, we’d like to take this opportunity to thank Carlos Rivera of the Houston Area Bears for his long-time support of HATCH, as well as countless other community organizations. We will forever remember him for his generosity, enthusiasm, and winning smile. Our thoughts go out to his friends and family.

We are honored to announce that our efforts to better serve Houston’s GLBT homeless youth population have been chosen as a beneficiary of the The Diana Foundation. Thank you, Diana’s, for your support. We look forward to the event on March 12!

Thank you, H-E-B, for your generous support of our Holiday Baskets project. The $600 you donated helped us surpass our original goal and provide more than 125 people with nutricious holiday meals!

We sincerely thank Lecia Brooks and the Southern Poverty Law Center for allowing us to host the Houston Premiere of their powerful Teaching Tolerance documentary “BULLIED: A Student, A School, and A Case that Changed History” on December 7. We’d also like to thank our community partners: the Anti-Defamation League, Equality Texas, GLSEN, Lambda Legal, and PFLAG Houston for taking part in the event, which included a community brainstorming session about what we can do to stop the bullying of GLBT youth.

Thank you, Eddie deRoulet of the City of Houston, for organizing the World AIDS Day Candlelight Ceremony in Tranquility Park on December 1. MCC is proud to take part in this annual event which strives to bring awareness to this important issue, give hope to those living with HIV/AIDS, and to honor those we’ve lost to the disease.

We’d like to extend our gratitude to Dena Gray and Sharon Howard of Concept2Resources, as well as the cast and crew of the stage production “You Better Ask Somebody,” for organizing the HIV/AIDS Awareness presentation of the dynamic play in honor of World AIDS Day on December 4. We were honored to be included in this community endeavor!

Thank you to everyone who attended the Magnolia Party on December 3 and made a donation to HATCH. Our youth program received $1,026 from the event. We couldn’t successfully continue our youth services without the support of local individuals and wonderful groups like you!

Thank you, thank you, to Adrian Orta, TC’s Showbar, Orta Productions, and Gia Elektra for raising money for HATCH at the “Better Tomorrows” Hope for LGBT Youth benefit on December 15, which raised $1,000 for HATCH. We appreciate the support of everyone who participated in and attended the event.

Huge thanks goes out to Charles Armstrong, Jose Apodaca, and all our friends at Meteor for making their annual “H-Town for the Holidays” celebration on December 16 a benefit for MCC. The $1,000 raised at the event will go directly to client services.

As always, we’d like to extend our sincerest appreciation to the hard-working members of ERSICSS for their ongoing support. To everyone who hosted, participated in, or attended a recent show, we thank you for supporting MCC, our programs, and clients.

To everyone who supported us in 2010, thank you! Whether you helped us spread the word about our services, referred for services someone who needed our help, volunteered time on our behalf, came to a behind-the-scenes tour to learn more, attended or sponsored an MCC event, donated money to our programs, or invested in our capital campaign… you were a part of our ability to serve more than 35,600 lives in FY2010. We are honored to have your support. With your continued partnership, we look forward to a successful 2011!
