Teach. Inspire. Get Paid!

Now accepting proposals for Summer 2013!

The Montrose Center is recruiting all variety of educators—trained experts, creative geniuses, obscure hobbyists—to help us launch Houston’s first recreational learning program that is by, for and about the LGBT community. Here’s your chance to inspire (and get paid)!

We put the Q in U

The name of our brave new concept is (drum roll…) QU! Courses will be divided into three terms:

  • Spring (Jan –Apr)
  • Summer (Jun –Aug)
  • Fall (Sep–Nov)

Currently, we are considering all formats – from brief workshops and single presentations to full courses and extended series.

Veer off the straight and narrow

If you’re going to do it, do it right. Right? QU aims to affirm and celebrate our culture and what it means to be LGBT. We also strive to bring unique, innovative, entertaining, even provocative course offerings and subject matter that you can’t find elsewhere. Categories include:

  • Relationships & Sexuality
  • LGBT History & Culture
  • LGBT Legal & Parenting Issues
  • Visual & Performing Arts
  • Cooking, Decorating & Entertaining
  • Health, Wellness & Fitness
  • Home & Finances
  • Language & Literacy
  • And more!

What’s in it for U

The Montrose Center provides the space and handles registration and fee collection. We will also help promote your class through a printed catalog (flyer), our website, e-newsletter and a smorgasbord of social media. Educators will receive 50% of the any fees paid for course attendance after the final class. Keep in mind that students are participating for pleasure, not necessity. Value and affordability are important when proposing your fee. Rule of thumb – be competitive, not greedy!

How Q is too Q?

Courses may have mature/adult themes as long as they do not involve nudity, live sexual acts, open flames, weapons, excessive alcohol consumption, illicit drug use, or liquids that might stain our carpet.
